Celebrity Dinner - November 8th, 2007, The Westin Tokyo

The whole tuna! The sake! The games (we couldn't get everyone to stop playing the games!). As promised, not your usual gala dinner. Our celebrities were great － so, so friendly, witty, and at times (ummmm Fumy Beppu discussing cycling wear) spicy! And we had a very special guest pop in at the last minute － Atsuya Furuta, former player-manager of the Yakult Swallows. How great to have the support of truly famous people in the Japanese community!
Ms. Satomi Funaki's talk with photos from the hospital really brought it all home and showed the audience WHY the Tyler Foundation is so, so necessary.
Just a superb night with the perfect balance of fun, fundraising and awareness raising! Thank you to everyone who joined and supported us.
Tokyo Shine On Idol - November 10th, 2007, Club No Name, Takeshiba
Congratulations Joanna! The Tokyo Shine On Idol for 2007!
And congratulations to our runners-up Melody and Michia who TIED for 2nd place!
It was an incredibly close battle with just 10 votes separating the winner and the two runners-up. And that should give you a feel for the excellent caliber of singers and the very tough competition the audience witnessed on the night.
What a fantastic evening － a true Japan first! Sir Tim Rice on stage singing "I Can't Get No Satisfaction"! Talk about a Tokyo moment! Sir Tim, Brenda Vaughn and Kong were stellar judges － just the right mix of wit, bite and encouragement. And we have to thank all 10 of our Idol contestants － simply amazing. Everyone sang with such heart and soul － and in addition to strutting their stuff, kept in mind why they were there to begin with by encouraging their friends for pledging support.

Our Grand Prize Winner - Miss Kiku Fujita. Congratulation!
Fujita-san was very excited to win the prize, especially because she loves Europe and particularly England. Fujita-san is a cram school teacher where she normally keeps things casual.
She was very appreciative to the Tyler Foundation, and particularly to Virgin Atlantic. She is now thinking of what type of holiday she can have, but it is likely she may go for an extended period in the next school holidays.
We at the Tyler Foundation wish Fujita all the best on her wonderful trip and thank her for her support!
